Intel head: I discuss 2018 threat with Trump

Trump talks staffing and North Korea says tariffs will be applied'in a loving way

It was Trump's most forceful attempt to date at dissuading Russian Federation from continuing its election interference efforts, though he again suggested that other countries may have been involved and continued to insist the final results were not affected by Moscow.

President Trump, in a joint news conference with the Swedish prime minister, acknowledged Russian "meddling" in the 2016 presidential election and said his administration is working to counteract any interference in elections in 2018 - even as he downplayed the effect of Russia's 2016 influence campaign.

That approach has anxious some lawmakers, who say the administration isn't doing enough to prevent election interference in the future.

Trump says: "We'll counteract whatever they do". One of the things we're learning, it's always good to have a paper back-up system of voting.

The President said it was important to guard against meddling efforts during the midterm contests.

Indeed, this week, the New Yorker reported that, according to a "senior Russian official", the Kremlin asked Trump not to appoint Russia hawk Mitt Romney as secretary of state.

So China doesn't send us two percent; they send us a much, much higher level than that, but it's called transshipping.

"We must stop Iran, we will stop Iran", Netanyahu said. Wrong!" Trump tweeted. "People will always come & go, and I want strong dialogue before making a final decision. Most recently, Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell warned that the tariffs could damage the American economy.

He encouraged states to include an analog backup to avoid attempts to hack electronic systems.

"The lack of urgency that we saw from the Republican leadership in 2016, we continue to see to this day today", McDonough told NBC. "This is not a game".

"This is the same old thing they've been saying for weeks", he told reporters at a weekly briefing.

"When we're behind on every single country, trade wars aren't so bad, you know what I mean?"

Coats suggested that sanctions also could be imposed on additional individuals as well.

Coats agreed that the USA must do more to deter attacks. I could take any position in the White House and I'll have a choice of the 10 top people having to do with that position. Now, Kushner sees information only at the lower "secret" level, but not highly classified information, Coats said.

Senior White House adviser Jared Kushner and staff from the State Department and National Security Council will be meeting Wednesday with Mexico's president and foreign minister in Mexico City.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said in January that the president had not "specifically directed" the bureau to fight Russian interference.
