Free Update For Super Mario Odyssey Brings Luigi To The Game

Super Mario Odyssey's first content update might be coming tomorrow

Nintendo has released Super Mario Odyssey update 1.2.0 for the Nintendo Switch, which introduces the "Balloon World" mini-game alongside various gameplay improvements. Balloon World's "Hide It" mode lets you hide balloons within stages that other players race to find.

You can also hide them in each level by finding Luigi on your map and having a quick chat with him. Along with the new mode, there's also two new filters to use when taking screenshots in the Snapshot Mode.

Announced last month for a February release, the update boasts a new mini-game mode called Balloon World which unlocks after completing the main story. The minigame will be available after you complete the game, so you've got a fun surprise waiting for you after you finish up your important business with Cappy. He gets particularly confused, in fact, when his brother is wearing the same outfit as himself.

Speaking of costumes, the free DLC also includes a bunch of additional content for players to enjoy during single-player progression including three new costumes for Mario and a bunch of new filters for Odyssey's frankly rather excellent photo mode.

For coin hunters out there, Luigi's Balloon World is a dream come true, offering the chance to quickly earn dozens of the little gold fellas without much in the way of risk. In the minigame, you either have to hide a balloon for other players to find, or try and seek out balloons that other people have hidden.

Warning: a lot of them prove that Luigi has always secretly been best Italian plumber this whole time.

Power Moons are the real "stars" of Super Mario Odyssey.
