'Black Panther' Is Breaking An Insane Amount Of Box Office Records

In an Instagram video (above), Smith congratulated the film's director, Ryan Coogler, and the all-star cast which includes Chadwick Boseman, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira Michael B. Jordan, Letitia Wright, and Daniel Kaluuya on their smash movie. The film, which carries an estimated $200 million production budget, had been tracking to bring in between an impressive $100 and $120 million when first projections emerged on January 25.

Over the past five years, the average monthly take at the domestic box office was $914 million. It's something positive in the world, and that's the type of person I am.

Directed by Oakland native, Ryan Coogler, the Marvel Comics box office hit is being described as a groundbreaking super-hero film and cultural phenomenon. I wanted people to feel like this is a really fresh storyline, and I think we succeeded in that.

"For the people who bought out theaters [sic], who posted on social about how lit the film would be, bragged about our awesome cast, picked out outfits to wear, and who stood in line in theaters [sic] all over the world - all before seeing the film".

Black Panther shattered February opening records when it arrived last week, topping 2016's Deadpool.
