Wales rattled by magnitude 4.4 quake

Welsh Twitter users shared their experiences online

Britain's biggest quake in ten years has reportedly been felt from Cornwall to Liverpool.

What has been described as a minor quake hit with a 4.4 magnitude and affected parts of Wales and England at around 2:31pm today, Saturday 17 February. This natural disaster has been felt across a large area of Wales and England with the furthest reports so far from Birmingham and Devon.

Once it had all calmed down, though, Twitter users quickly poked fun at the situation.

Police forces in Wales say they have received "extremely high call volume" reporting tremors. "The whole Hilton Liverpool building just shook violently".

While Jason Mohammad said: "Anyone else?"

What is thought to have been the biggest quake in the United Kingdom for a decade has been felt across Cornwall. Hannah Jenkins posted on Twitter. "It didn't last more than about 10 seconds but it was the strangest sensation I've ever experienced". "It certainly wasn't on that scale".

South Wales Police confirmed the quake as well, telling residents: "There has been a minor natural disaster throughout South Wales, there is no need to phone the emergency services unless you have something to report ie. damage or injuries".
