"We are talking about a massive game".

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has made six changes to the side which beat West Bromwich Albion on Monday, with youngster Ethan Ampadu starting, though there is only a space on the bench for Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Hull labour 21st in the Championship, a point above the cut-off, and Nigel Adkins' options had been severely limited by injuries, suspensions and the ineligibility of three players - Ola Aina, Fikayo Tomori and Michael Hector - who are on loan from the host club. Cesc Fabregas and Danny Drinkwater will look to control midfield, while Willian, Olivier Giroud and Pedro Rodriguez are attacking threats.

"It's important for his confidence", Conte said of Giroud's goal.

Brazilian superstar Willian scored twice in a first-half blitz from Antonio Conte's blues, opening the scoring after just 106 seconds with a calm finish. After the emphatic win, Chelsea will be boosted to have Alonso back in the dugout.

The visitors remained undeterred thereafter and kept probing for a way back, but their finishing in front of goal left much to be desired.

'Good game, good performance. Meanwhile, Bakayoko has failed to gain Conte's confidence and is set to miss the Barcelona game.

It was an easy route to the quarter-finals for Chelsea as they smashed Hull City 4-0 at Stamford Bridge. "Yes, it [Morata and Giroud playing together] could happen", Conte said. "He is fit, but I don't think Bakayoko [will be]".

"I'm very happy. Before an important game I go to my house with many doubts in my mind". But it's right to be so.

Not even the start of the game could have been better, nor the quality of the opening goal.

The 52-year-old was also on the Chelsea touchline in January 2005 when working as a physio for Scunthorpe, who took the lead only to lose the FA Cup clash 3-1.

Chelsea however were dominant and could have had more as Giroud shot over from Pedro's scooped pass, before Willian and Pedro forced two good saves out of Scottish keeper Marshall.

"For sure, to play against Barcelona is a great challenge for us". This type of game must give us great enthusiasm and we must be excited.

But the performance of those handed the opportunity to impress was disjointed and indicative of a side missing 12 first-team players as Chelsea wreaked havoc to reach the last eight.

"It was nearly there, I tried to score one more goal but the most important thing was the win", he said.
