Russia Blocks Navalny's Website After Billionaire Graft Probe

Aleksei Navalny

The wealthy oligarch in question, Oleg Deripaska, was seen in the videos sailing his yacht around Norway, with Russian deputy prime minister Sergei Prikhodko also on board the vessel. As the immediate result of Deripaska's lawsuit, Roskomnadzor, Russia's communications regulator, added the postings of the video to its list of banned Web pages. "It still opens via some providers, but that is temporary", Navalny tweeted on Thursday.

"Nastya Rybka" was one of four sexily-dressed women who entered the Navalny organization's Moscow headquarters last September and were filmed by a crew from Russia's Life News, who "just happened" to be passing by with professional equipment, Navalny says in his YouTube video.

Alexey Navalny, the key opposition figure in Russian Federation, said today that his site Navalny.com has been blocked in Russian Federation.

Navalny claims the holiday on the billionaire's yacht amounts to a "bribe", and points to a relationship between Deripaska and Manafort, suggesting the two Russians may have been discussing the 2016 USA presidential election.

Mr. Deripaska, who has emerged as a central figure in the investigations of Russian meddling in the 2016 United States presidential campaign, said through a spokesman that Mr. Navalny's allegations of bribery and prostitutes were a "hot story that appears far from being the truth".

Deripaska, in a statement last week, accused Navalny and others of spreading lies about him and was reported to have obtained a court order in southern Russian Federation to have the offending material removed.

YouTube and Instagram are being asked to take down videos and photos at the center of a controversy involving a prominent Russian billionaire and a senior Russian government official.

She claimed in a book she wrote that she was hired as an escort on Deripaska's boat, but her allegations weren't taken seriously until Navalny's expose last week, according to The New York Times.

Putin critic Alexei Navalny posted a video on YouTube connecting the meeting to alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.

"Roskomnadzor has ordered telecommunications service providers to limit access to the webpages at navalny.com, mentioned in the ruling issued by the Krasnodar region's Ust-Labinsky District Court". Navalny is asking that they do not accede to the government's demands.

On February 15, Alexey Navalny said Roskomnadzor had blocked access to his website in Russian Federation.
