New Emoji Coming to iOS Devices Later This Year

On Wednesday, The Unicode Consortium released Emoji 11.0, which includes a finalized list of 157 new emojis.

Also to-be-released are hot and cold faces, woozy and pleading faces, anatomy and miscellaneous science lab objects, a fire extinguisher, toilet paper roll and a sponge. All the new emoji can be seen here.

"Neither the existing crab nor shrimp emoji can be effectively used to represent a lobster, which has a distinctively different profile", wrote King, who was also among the nine New England senators who co-sponsored a successful resolution past year designating September 25 as "National Lobster Day". However, the emoji that you'll actually see and use depends on what software you're using.

The Unicode Consortium has announced the finalization of the Emoji 11.0 standard which adds 157 new emojis. The update will also bring reversible emoji for the first time.

New for 2018 are modifiers that allow vendors to give man and woman emoji various hairstyles, from curly-haired to red-haired to bald.
