Two More Coaches Joining Josh McDaniels Staff with Colts

The New England Patriots' coaching staff shakeup won't stop with its two coordinators.

Both hires have been expected for a while, but the National Football League required teams to wait and make the announcements official until the end of the Patriots season. That's a list that includes Baylor head coach Matt Rhule and Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard.

The only hurdle to the Colts and McDaniels making it official was New England's appearance in Super Bowl LII Sunday in Minneapolis. However, things aren't so certain when sifting through the coaching candidates for the Patriots' vacant offensive coordinator position.

That time just may not be as a member of the Patriots' staff.

Everybody knows about the Patriots being down 28-3 to the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

McDaniels made a brief stop with the then-St.

Getting Luck into the Patriots system McDaniels has perfected in New England could be the key to finally unlocking the quarterback's potential, but only time will tell.

As New England braces for an offseason of uncertainty, with Matt Patricia also vacating his post as defensive coordinator in Detroit, McDaniels is hopeful his second stint in the coach's chair goes smoother than his first.

You can't write about the Colts hire without mentioning Belichick's status with the Patriots either.

As Florio notes, McDaniels could be sticking around to replace head coach Bill Belichick if Belichick unexpectedly retires. While there are some concerns about Luck's health, McDaniels must have confidence that he will be ready for next season.

Some believe Belichick might walk away from the Patriots, but it sure doesn't seem like McDaniels would take the job if the Pats gig was about to become vacant. Clearly that's not the case. McDaniels was short when asked if he was taking the Colts job after the loss.

It has certainly bee a hard few days for the New England Patriots.
