Wenger: Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang are quick, have sharp movement

Arsene Wenger still has 18 months remaining on the deal he signed at the end of last season

Star striker Pierre-Emerck Aubameyang's debut is in doubt, however, as he will have a late evaluation due to reports that he is down with flu.

Aubameyang - a £55 million club-record signing from Borussia Dortmund - marked his Gunners debut by getting on the scoresheet in Saturday's 5-1 demolition of Everton, with Aaron Ramsey helping himself to a hat-trick at Emirates Stadium.

Manchester United capture Mkhitaryan notched three assists as Arsenal thrashed the sorry Toffees who only had a Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal for consolation.

"The manager was not happy - but none of us are", the defender told Sky Sports News. "They have similar qualities to what our game is about".

A flawless opening forty-five minutes was complete when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his first goal for the club with a superb dink over the keeper following a through-ball from Mkhitaryan.

Many labelled them the "deadliest duo in the Premier League", while others used their performance to highlight that it had been "a good January transfer window".

Although a different type of player to Alexis, it's clear that the 29-year-old fits perfectly into the current 4-2-3-1 system, and his partnership with Ramsey looks even more promising. He is not at his best physically yet.

He said: "When you have new players it gives always a little positive swing, and it wakes everybody up as well, because there's suddenly competition so they have to live with that as well". You feel once he is in front of the defender it is hard to catch him. I liked the quality of his movement, I must say. "It is very good and positive signs".

Replays showed that Aubameyang's goal should have been ruled out for offside but he won't care about that. Shiny things. Things to distract from issues we don't really want to address. From there, the only question was how long Arsenal's players would continue to try. Before we had Mesut [Ozil] and [Alexis] Sanchez who had an understanding.

Our challenge, I think, is to find the balance. We are a very offensive team.

Arguably the weak link in Arsenal's backline, Mustafi made some good blocks but didn't appear to be quite comfortable in dealing with the attacking endeavours of the Blues.

We have the potential to be a real force, but we need to defend better as a team and we must limit the mistakes, but my sneaky feeling is we'll not fix them until Wenger goes.

The German knit the side together and ran the show in the final third.
