A victory in last T20 would bless Pakistan with the first ever T20 Series win in New Zealand.

Pakistan had notched their first victory of the tour over the New Zealand in the second T20 after crushing the Black Caps by 48 runs in Auckland.

Pakistan thus levelled the series 1-1 after the hosts won the first match by seven wickets at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

Earlier, Pakistan opted to bat and put up a strong total of 181 for 6. In the deciding T20I at Mount Maunganui, Sarfraz Ahmed said Pakistan wanted to maintain the template of the previous game, and start off well.

Opener Fakhar Zaman was Pakistan's top-scorer with 46 runs off just 36 balls laced with five boundaries and a six before being dismissed by Mitchell Santner.

However, barring Guptill, the top and middle order batsmen consisting of Colin Munro (1), skipper Kane Williamson (0), Tom Bruce (1), Glenn Phillips (5) and Colin de Grandhomme (10) fell in quick succession.

Pakistan could not claim the second wicket until the 13th over but Martin Guptill and Anaru Kitchen's cautious approach meant that only 84 runs were on the board until then.

Ross Taylor (24) and Santner (24*) also chipped in with their cameos towards the end, but it wasn't enough. The Pakistan bowlers showed good discipline with Shadab Khan taking 2 for 19.

Shadab was named the man of the match, whereas pacer Mohammad Amir claimed the man-of-the-series accolade.
