Joel Embiid And Lonzo Ball Headline Mtn Dew Kickstart Rising Stars Rosters

Jamal Murray Named to World Roster for Mtn Dew Kickstart Rising Stars Challenge

The NBA announced Wednesday that shooting guards Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic were selected to compete on the World Team roster in the Mountain Dew Kickstart Rising Stars game. The No. 7 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft is averaging 16.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 29.8 minutes per game in this, his second season. Among rookie leaders, Smith ranks fifth in scoring, 10th in rebounding, fourth in assists, fifth in steals and seventh in minutes per game. He's shooting 48 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point and almost 83 percent from the free-throw line.

The second-year guard has posted 20+ points 17 times and 30+ points six times, both the most among all players under 21.

Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons have established themselves as the core of a young and talented Philadelphia 76ers squad with a seemingly bright future.

Cameroon's Embiid, already tabbed as an All-Star Game starter, could play alongside Australia's Simmons on the World team against the United States in the game for first- and second-year players.

Lakers rookies Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma highlight the US team that will face them.

National Basketball Association assistant coaches were again responsible for selecting the players to compete in the Rising Stars event this year. The league's assistant coaches selected the rosters.

Sacramento Kings (14-33) have not had much to celebrate this season, but fans can rejoice with two players heading to 2018 All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.

For the fourth consecutive year, the league's annual showcase of premier young talent during NBA All-Star will pit 10 first- and second-year NBA players from the USA against 10 first- and second-year NBA players from around the world.
