Florida Gators' Scott Stricklin joins College Football Playoff committee

Report: Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione to serve on College Football Playoff committee

Castiglione, who has served three terms as chair of the Big 12 Board of Athletic Directors, has developed into an OU icon since taking over his current position in 1998, overseeing the football program's resurgence after hiring Bob Stoops, then ushering in Lincoln Riley's era last offseason.

Stricklin has spent the majority of his career in the SEC as the AD at UF and Mississippi State, his alma mater. The six new members will begin three-year terms this spring. Castiglione recently completed a five-year run on the basketball committee, which included one season (2015-16) as chairman.

A USC Football representative is back on the College Football Playoff Selection Committee.

An All-American at USC and a legendary defender in the NFL, Lott's football acumen is unrivaled.

Boivin worked as a sports columnist for the Arizona Republic and now works at Arizona State's journalism school.

The 75-year-old Hatfield, who went on to coach at Arkansas and Clemson, was hired as Air Force's offensive coordinator in 1978. He also played for the Razorbacks from 1961-64. Lott was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

Stricklin was named Athletic Director of the Year among FBS schools in 2016 by the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

Castilglone would be joined by six new CFP selection committee members.

There are five classifications of members: people with experience as coaches, student-athletes, administrators, journalists and sitting directors of athletics.

OR athletic director Rob Mullens will be the committee's new chairperson and explanatory voice to ESPN. The committee also votes on a weekly Top 25 ranking in the lead up to the final vote.
