Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee hails 'incredible talent' of Dolores O'Riordan

Dolores O'Riordan, lead singer of The Cranberries, dead at age 46

Her case will now be passed to a coroner who will determine the cause of death.

Then on Monday, he received the stunning news that the beloved singer was found dead in a London hotel.

Police initially said the mother of three's death was "unexplained", but on Tuesday ruled it non-suspicious.

Speaking online, the Cranberries paid their respects and revealed their sense of loss at the passing of Dolores O'Riordan. At first, my friends and I started singing along for fun, but as we kept going the vehicle got quiet between vocal parts and we were all deep in it. "The world has lost a true artist today", they wrote.

The Cranberries' former manager and CEO of Bad Wolves' record label, Eleven Seven, Allen Kovac said his time with O'Riordan and the band was "a great professional honor" and said, "My heart goes out to her children, I hope they can find some peace despite this tragic event". "She influenced me and many other Irish writers and artists, she was an incredible talent who will be sorely missed".

She told London's Metro newspaper past year that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and she spoke to the Irish News about her battles with depression.

The Irish singer, who led the band to become the biggest and most popular global acts of the 90s with hits like "Linger" and "Zombie", has passed away suddenly at the age of 46.

"Remember when she was at her height, this city was going through a terrible, awful time, we had a very bad name - "city" - she did away with all that". She once said, "I'm a feminist ..."

Their second album No Need to Argue produced one of their most popular songs, the harder sounding Zombie. That same year, however, The Cranberries reunited, and toured with a mix of old hits, songs from O'Riordan's solo work, and new tunes. I mean, they did have an ear for a catchy hook for sure, but I think the sweet tone of her voice amidst often heavier instrumental elements made for a contrast that was as interesting as it was unexpected.

"We are shocked and saddened at the news of Dolores "s passing, mere hours before she was to record vocals on our upcoming version of 'Zombie"," the band said in a message on Facebook post late on Monday.

"Oh she did us so proud, oh she did us so proud, she never left us down and she loved Limerick and never exhausted of telling us", the Limerick native said.

O'Riordan was born Sept 6, 1971, and grew up in the Ballybricken area of County Limerick. "Our thoughts go out to her family at this awful time", the band writes in a statement.

In a candid interview from 2013, the performer opened up about the traumatic time in her life, saying: "He [the abuser] used to masturbate me when I was eight-years-old. We are so proud of everything she achieved".
