Met Office issues weather warning of fog for Dorset

The Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" warning that states snow showers will be heaviest and most frequent across the Western Isles and Highlands on Monday through to Tuesday.

Fog with very poor visibility will linger in many inland areas this afternoon and will get worse as the day goes on, Met Eireann have warned.

Dense fog in Offaly and around the midlands is set to make driving conditions on roads hazardous throughout Thursday.

The national forecaster also say the warning will remain in place until 2am this morning.

Motorists are advised to use their fog lights but also to turn them off afterwards.

The heavy rain was to be most persistent in the western half of the country overnight, but clearing to isolated showers by this morning.

The meteorological office expects rather windy conditions tomorrow, with strong and gusty southeasterly winds given. This will become more extensive again after dark. Windy and mostly cloudy elsewhere too, with the rain spreading eastwards all the while and with some heavy rain in places by dawn. Overnight fog and any frost should clear. Lowest temperatures 4 to 8 C.
