Le'Veon Bell turns focus back to Pittsburgh Steelers, Super Bowl

Le'Veon Bell unsure about Steelers future

In speaking to ESPN, Bell said, "I hope it doesn't come to that, but I would definitely consider it".

The 25-year-old played on a $12.1 million franchise tag in 2017, and that number is projected to increase to around $14.5 million in 2018.

Bell took a career-high 321 carries during the 2017 campaign, and he had 1,291 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground for the Steelers. "I'm not going out here getting the ball 400 times if I'm not getting what I feel I'm valued at".

"I'm not going to settle for anything", Bell told ESPN this week. He added that he'd "probably be done" playing football if he sat out all of 2018.

There is no debate how valuable running back Le'Veon Bell has been to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bell sat out virtually all of training camp this summer before returning to the team September 1. While Bell is still relatively young, his increased workload in recent years could mean an earlier decline.

The Steelers rode Le'Veon Bell hard in the team's first two playoffs games last season, giving him the ball 59 times in the victories over the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs.

National Football League teams can place the franchise tag on a player between February 20 and March 6. If Bell is tagged between February 20th and March 6th, Pittsburgh would have until July 16th to come to a long term agreement. "Right now, I'm just kind of doing it because I love it". "They tag me again, it will be me [saying], 'OK, do I want to play on the tag or do I not want to play on the tag?' That's what it comes down to". It sounds picky, but saying "I can/could care less" implies that it's something you really care about. If Pittsburgh does go the distance this year, nothing tends to stretch a team's pockets more than coming off a Super Bowl win the year before. "If I was a free agent and they let me go, be a free agent, then yeah, I'm going to go explore free agency, test the market".

It is a bit odd to see Bell nearly do a complete 180 from the comments he made earlier in the day.
