Listen to a man reporting himself to police as a drunk driver

Hear it: Florida drunk driver calls 911 to report himself

A Florida man allegedly called local authorities on New Years Eve to alert them that someone was driving under the influence - himself.

One of their final arrests of 2017 was nearly too easy for police in Florida.

Lester told deputies who arrived on the scene he had consumed drugs and alcohol. He told the dispatcher he had been driving "all over Winter Haven", and was "trying to get pulled over".

Caller: "I don't know, I'm too drunk".

"I don't know. I'm too drunk" he responds.

Polk County Sheriff's Office confirmed that nobody had been hurt during the incident when they released the audio of Lester's call.

"I am driving on the wrong side of the road", he added.

In one part of the video, Lester can be heard saying that he's going to get some food and told the 911 operator to "have a nice night". "They can catch up with me".

Police say he admitted to drinking and swallowing methamphetamine. He also said that he had barely slept for several days, CBS News reported.

According to the post by Polk County Sheriff's Office, Michael started off by admitting that he had had two beers when he was eventually pulled over.

Lester has quite the lengthy criminal record including a previous DUI, as well as aggravated battery, drug possession, disorderly conduct, resisting, and hit and run.

The sheriff's office also noted Lester had been their thirtieth DUI arrest in the month of December.

He was cited for driving under the influence, driving on the wrong side of the road, improper use of the centre lane and no seatbelt.
