DJI added a new hyper-lapse feature into the DJI Go mobile app as well as a zoom slider to simulate the use of a dolly zoom.
DJI, usually on the forefront of new technology within their specific niche, seems to be looking to compete with the Zhiyun Crane 2 gimbal with the announcement of the new Ronin-S gimbal.
The Osmo Mobile 2 will come with some of DJI's signature features on board. The two-way mobile clamp lets you easily pivot between landscape and portrait orientation so that you can chose the most engaging full-screen format for your audience.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 is a handheld device you strap your phone into and it ensures that video and stills are captured with as little camera shake as possible - even when in motion.
Like the previous Osmo Mobile, there are additionally controls for ISO, shutter speed and white balance. If you're a more serious photographer, you can express your creativity through options like Panorama, Long Exposure and LightTrail modes. Hopefully, those that take advantage of the new $129 price and upgraded battery life won't use this stabilizer for evil like that. The original Osmo Mobile was good for just under five hours of use per charge-the Mobile 2 can go for 15 hours.
The Osmo Mobile 2 retains the three-axis gimbal setup that made the original popular as one of the most stable gimbals available, but is made of "high-strength modified nylon" instead of metal like the original - and it also makes it lighter. On the other hand, the Ronin-S is DJI's first single-handed stabiliser for bigger devices like DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.
According to DJI, the Ronin-S supports Canon 5D, Panasonic GH and Sony Alpha systems with a wide combinations of lenses. The Osmo Mobile 2 can help you create smooth shots so subjects remain in focus no matter how rough the outside environment is.
The Ronin-S also features DJI's intelligent battery technology that can be hot-swapped during operation for extended shoots. Plus, if your lens and camera sensors have their own optical stabilization, the gimbal's advanced stabilization algorithms will work in tandem with them to produce the best footage. Pre-orders will be available exclusively on Apple.com and it wil be available at DJI stores and authorised retailers in early February 2018.
The DJI Ronin-S release date will be available in the next few months through DJI's online store as well as it retail partners (i.e. Amazon and the Apple Store).
