Acer Chromebook 11 hands-on review

Acer's latest entry-level Chromebook 11 adds color and USB-C

HP has come up with its latest range of Chromebook laptops while the CES 2018 tech show is all set to commence in a few days.

Under the hood, the Chromebook 11 C311 has had a small spec bump to use Intel's newer Celeron processors, as well as 2GB or 4GB of RAM - still no option for 8GB - and 10 hours of battery life.

The most notable aspect of the Chromebook 11 - which comes in two models CB311-8H and CB311-8HT - is the blue casing that extends all around the laptop for a nice splash of color. There are also two conventional USB 3.0 ports.

There are two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, with either able to be used to charge the device. Plus, customers can use the MicroSD card reader to access and transfer content.

The Acer Chromebook 11 has been one of the best cheap, low-power Chromebooks you can buy for kids or students for a long time. The new models in the lineup are the Chromebook 14 GS and Chromebook 11 G6 and these are aimed at the business and education sectors. "Chromebooks are widely known as a fast, easy and secure way to work and play both online and offline". This is not only evident in its smaller size with its 11.6-inch display (along with a 1366 x 768 resolution) but also with its lightweight design, as the new Chromebook 11 weighs in at just 2.43 pounds and measures only 0.71-inches in thickness.

Availability wise, Acer has said that the Chromebook will appear in the European, Middle Eastern, and African markets in March where the base model will start at €249, before launching in the United States in April for US$249. Exact specifications, prices, and availability will vary by region. That's something we've seen particularly boost the everyday usability of Chromebooks like Google's Pixelbook, though Acer undercuts Google's own model significantly.
