Weekend Box Office Report: 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Remains Leader

Star Wars Movies Make $4 Billion, Surpass Amount Disney Paid To Buy Lucasfilm

According to The Hollywood Reporter, in its third weekend, Star Wars: The Last Jedi amassed another $19.1 million on Friday from 4,232 theaters, bringing its domestic haul to an impressive $483.8 million and $974 million at the worldwide box office. These include the $464.6 million in domestic ticket sales and $469.6 million internationally.

Amidst all the chaos in the Star Wars community, a misleading rumor started running around, suggesting that Hamill didn't know the ending of the Star Wars sequel trilogy installment when he worked on the film.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has achieved yet another box office milestone.

The Last Jedi made a splash in its worldwide opening weekend. The Last Jedi opened to a combined $450 million worldwide.

In total, the film has earned $517 total gross at the United States box office, a massive number for a film that opened earlier in December! Right now fans who're against The Last Jedi are using the rumor to help fuel the negativity, so it's good to hear Hamill strongly debunking the hearsay. And with over $120 million globally this weekend, The Last Jedi has passed $1 billion to become the third-biggest global release of the year (and 24th-biggest all-time).

Star Wars: The Last Jedi now has an 83.28 ComicBook.com Composite Score.

The Star Wars legend, however, debunked the rumor, calling it "complete BS". The next standalone Star Wars movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, opens in theaters on May 25, 2018.
