Power Outage Hits Disneyland, Riders Stranded

Disneyland Resort celebrates its 60th anniversary with a preview of its three new nighttime spectaculars

Disneyland suffered a power outage on Wednesday, stopping some of the park's operations, officials confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. At least a dozen rides and attractions appear to have been shut down at the Anaheim, Calif., park.

Disneyland may claim it's the "Happiest Place on Earth", but really that title belongs to my couch, where I am never in danger of getting trapped by a power outage because I am trapped here already.

A Disneyland spokesperson said power is down in Toontown and Fantasyland, and crews are working to restore it.

Most of the affected rides were running again by noon, however the outage comes during one of Disneyland's busiest weeks all year. A spokesperson didn't know whether crowd size caused the issue. There was no estimate when the rest would be back online.

The outage came as Disneyland experienced a particularly busy day, according to the theme park's Twitter feed.

Park visitors had to be escorted off the rides, including the Monorail, KABC reported. "What's the worst that could happen?" "Oh wait." Another posted a photo of the extremely packed park, while others complained about the lack of information being circulated from park officials.
