Everton Finally Agree A Deal For A Striker To Replace Romelu Lukaku

Besiktas Turkish forward Cenk Tosun celebrates after scoring a goal during the Turkish Super Lig football match between Besiktas and Galatasaray

Sam Allardyce has emphasised the importance of Everton strengthening their striker department in the January transfer window.

Sporx have reported on comments Bak made to the Anadolu Agency about Tosun's potential transfer to Everton: "Cenk absolutely deserved a transfer to the Premier League with his brilliant performances in the Champions League with Besiktas".

And they are now looking to January for reinforcements, with Tosun, who has 14 goals this season, chief among the targets. The forward has also scored 8 goals in 24 games for the Turkish national side, including five in the team's 2018 World Cup qualification campaign.

Ninth-placed Everton's current top scorer is Wayne Rooney, who has netted 10 times in the league. If we are to just maintain our position, because we have started to struggle to create chances and score goals in recent matches.

Asked about Barkley's fitness, Allardyce said: "He is training with us on a regular basis and he is very close to being available for selection". I think at some stage or other, the cautious medical staff will say I can have him. It's still one of the major problems we have at the Club and we can't cloud the fact we have been awarded more penalties than anyone in the Premier League, which has contributed to a massive few points over the season.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, whose side are without a win since November, believes Allardyce has done well to improve morale at Everton since taking over from interim boss David Unsworth.

The fee for the Turkey worldwide could potentially rise to £25 million and he would become the first signing since Sam Allardyce took over as manager in November. "They had a tough start to the season", he said.

With a hard slump in the league, managers can stray away from their beliefs and set-ups in order to try and get a result.
