Jose Mourinho bemoans 's***' goals following Burnley draw

The Red Devils endured a tough week before Christmas as they exited the EFL Cup to Bristol City before conceding a last-minute equaliser in a 2-2 league draw with Leicester City, and they found themselves behind after only three minutes when Barnes capitalised on their failure to defend a free-kick.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho accuses his side of conceding too many 's***' goals in recent weeks following their 2-2 draw at home to Burnley.

City spent nearly £100million to bring Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy to the Etihad, while also spending another £27m on Danilo, and Mourinho insists he needs more in order to be able to compete with Pep Guardiola's side.

The Portuguese still has a massive rebuilding job on his hands 18 months on from taking over, and with Guardiola galloping into the distance, Mourinho can not afford to waste more of United's time and money on mediocre players.

"There are many big clubs, you say big clubs, I know what is a big club".

You think they are not as big as we are? The Arsenal doesn't have a responsibility to win it?

A 43-point tally would have been enough to put United top of the table at this stage of the campaign...

JOSE MOURINHO, United manager, pointing out that his side are unable to compete with City's riches in the transfer market. "And the price for the big clubs, the price for the big clubs is different from the other clubs".

"The boys are doing what they can and they are doing fine", Mourinho said of his side, but the next phase of the overhaul has already begun, with United reportedly considering a £40 million bid for Bordeaux's Brazilian forward Malcom in January.

The comments Mourinho made about money and finances were certainly met by ridicule in most quarters, and it seems as though it's his way of putting pressure on the board and also trying to make people believe City have more money and have been investing in their squad for longer - at a higher level.

"They have labelled me an aggressive player, a murderer".
