The Office Revival Reportedly in the Works

“The Office”

The series would be set at Dunder Mifflin's Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch and include a mix of new and old cast members, and The Hollywood Reporter and TVLine report that a search is underway to find a new actor to take over as the show's lead, the regional manager of the paper supply company.

An NBC spokesperson declined to comment.

The revival is in the planning phases mainly because the return of NBC's Will & Grace proved to be a hit.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC is now on the hunt for "Michael Scott-like regional manager" of paper supply company Dunder Mifflin, in addition to a number of new faces. Well, there's good news in the pipeline for legions of the U.S. version of the series, with reports coming through that there are plans to revive the series, nearly five years after its last episode aired.

The network is in talks to bring back The Office, according to a TV Line report.

The Office ran for nine seasons on NBC as part of the network's Thursday comedy brand.

"I don't think it'll ever happen", she said.

Jim and Pam moved to Philly to work with Darryl (Craig Robinson), Stanley retired, Oscar got into politics, Creed got arrested, and so on. The report clearly calls for a continuation of the story of Scranton's Dunder Mifflin offices.

It's unknown just how far along the project is and whether casting announcements will be coming soon, but if NBC is expecting a return in 2018 then it's reasonable to assume more The Office news will follow shortly.

The news comes after NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt in August teased his series reboot wishlist, which included The Office and 30 Rock.
