General Motors Company (GM) Hoping Totally Redesigned Silverado Can Boost Truck Sales

The all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was recently unveiled in Texas in front of an enthusiastic gathering of fans and Chevy owners at an event that was part of the year-long centenary celebration of Chevrolet trucks.

But truck manufacturers are now embroiled in an all-out numbers war, and with Chrysler soon to introduce an all-new Ram, and the newest iteration of the segment-leading Ford F-150 also getting ready to drop, it probably doesn't hurt to make a half-time-show style entrance in Texas, Silverado's strongest market.

"It's strong, it's modern, but it's instantly recognizable as a Chevy truck." said Alan Batey, president of GM's North American operations.

General Motors says the 2019 Silverado will be lighter than the current model with a high-strength bed. For now, the company chose to present the 2019 Silverado in the new LT Trailboss trim - one of eight available soon - which makes use of the off-road prowess of the Z71 package, along with a two-inch suspension lift and also brings a host of design enhancements.

Meet the next-generation 2019 Chevy Silverado that will be built in Fort Wayne. The Trailboss version also gains a handful of off-road equipment and a two-inch suspension lift. This is the 2019 Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss.

GM said the Chevrolet Silverado has been completely redesigned for the 2019 model year.

Here comes the 2019 Silverado. The body, too, is more sculpted than before - replacing the blocky fenders and rocker-panels with curvier, grooved stampings.

Tune in for more heavy truck artillery as the truck wars move into Cobo Hall next month.

The current Silverado is GM's best selling vehicle in North America, with sales of more than 500,000 vehicles a year ago.

Auto companies earn a profit of $10,000 or more on the typical full-size pickup, according to industry analysts.

To give you a taste of how significant the Silverado is for Chevrolet, you should know the new full-size pickup reflects feedback from more than 7,000 people on what they wanted in their next truck. Since then, Chevrolet has sold more than 85 million trucks.
