Moore accuser: Expert confirmed his 1977 yearbook signature

Roy Moore accuser Beverly Young Nelson: 'I pray that he's changed'

She came forward later with attorney Gloria Allred.

Summary: On Friday, Roy Moore's accuser admitted to adding notes to the senate-candidate's alleged yearbook inscription.

Gloria Allred, Nelson's attorney, said at a news conference today that a handwriting expert found the signature authentic. One accuser in particular, Beverly Young Nelson, claimed that Moore aggressively pursued her when he was 30, and she was 15. Moore has denied the allegations, calling them "completely false" and "malicious".

The Moore campaign repeated its call for Nelson to release her yearbook to an independent analyst so that the handwriting attributed to Moore can be analyzed.

"We're going to present evidence that we think is important on the issue whether Roy Moore signed the yearbook", Allred told ABC News.

The Moore campaign took no questions from reporters. The election is Tuesday.

Beverly Nelson's high school yearbook has become key evidence supporting her claim that the 34-year-old prosecutor was a regular at the Olde Hickory House restaurant where she worked as a teenager - and where she says he attacked her in his auto after she accepted his offer of a ride home one cold winter night. "He wrote in my yearbook as follows", Nelson said.

The inscription, which is shown again again in the above clip, reads, "To a sweeter more lovely girl I could not say Merry Christmas".

Allred said she retained forensic handwriting expert Arthur Anthony to examine the inscription by comparing Moore's "known standard handwriting and signature to the entry in Beverly's yearbook".

"We did not ask the expert to examine the printing after the cursive writing and signature", Allred said Friday.

Allred acknowledged that Nelson added the date and restaurant name below the signature. Moore advisers have also noted that in the past, Moore had an assistant with the initials "D.A.", which would be printed next to Moore's signature when she signed documents on his behalf with a stamp. She stated, "He wrote in my yearbook as follows: 'To a sweeter more attractive girl, I could not say Merry Christmas, Christmas, 1977, Love, Roy Moore, Olde Hickory House".

U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore of Alabama stepped up his attacks Friday on the integrity of a woman who says that he sexually assaulted her when she was a 16-year-old waitress at a restaurant where he often dined when he was a prosecutor in his 30s.

Nelson, who says she voted for Trump, worries that partisan politics has eclipsed moral judgment.

"They say lawyers lie".

Nelson's account has not been independently verified by The Post.
