It's unknown what the plot line will be for Stranger Things Season 3.

Courtesy of Variey, we can report that Netflix has officially renewed the popular horror series for a third season. It felt totally unnecessary, when we had the Snow Ball.

"Stranger Things" Season 2 nine-episodes came out just a few days before Halloween and one of the earliest episodes centered around the kids dressed up as Ghostbusters at school. The streaming service's Twitter account first published a poll asking fans if they should make another season of the show, and then followed up with a very declarative tweet.

Creators Matt and Ross Duffer have previously stated that they have a four-season plan - though, there might be enough story for five - for the sci-fi series. So hold tight baby darts - Season 3 is officially happening.

The show's second season released back in October this year, and was met with positive acclaim to match the first 80s nostalgia trip. That's what the Duffer brothers told The Hollywood Reporter.

Take a look at the final trailer for Stranger Things 2 below.

Season two brought a few new faces to the mix, including Paul Reiser from "Aliens" and Sean Astin of "Lord of the Rings" and "The Goonies". "It always ends up different than we were ever expecting". "We're excited [to] spend more time with Max and develop her in a way...we're sort of scratching the surface on this season of what I think she's capable of". It's a problem many franchises with young actors face.
