Micromax launches Bharat 5: Price, specifications and offers

Vodafone announces cashback up to Rs 2200 on Micromax smartphones

Dubbed as Micromax Bharat 5, the smartphone will be unveiled at an event held in Gurgaon at 12:00 PM onwards. The smartphone has a premium feel to it and, unlike the Bharat 5, does not feel bulky. Reliance Jio is offering an enticing cashback offer on the Redmi 5A. The device comes with a plastic unibody design and curves - unlike the 4A - affording it a familiar, yet premium feel.

The Micromax Bharat 5 sports a 5.2-inch HD display with no mentioning of the protective layer.

At launch, the Micromax Bharat 5 runs Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone Micromax Bharat 5 comes with a tagline that says "The Power of 5". Compared to its competition - Nokia 2 and Bharat 5 which come with 1GB RAM paired with Snapdragon 212 or a 1.3GHz quad-core processor - the Redmi 5A comes with the highly efficient 425 SoC paired with 2/3GB of RAM.

Battery: This time Nokia beats Xiaomi with its long lasting 4,100mAh battery as compared to Redmi 5A's 3,000mAh battery. As the name suggests, the smartphone comes with "The Big 5's". The Bharat 5 smartphone packs a 5MP camera on both front and back with LED flash. Up front, there is again a 5MP selfie camera also with flash for good looking selfies. The rear camera is capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps. The front shows physical navigation keys at the base, while on the top, there is an earpiece and front-facing camera. That aside, the Indian firm had also announced ultra-budget 4G feature phone in the form of the Bharat 1. For the addition of storage, the Bharat 5 comes with a microSD card slot.

Xiaomi has launched Redmi 5A at a price starting from Rs 4,999 for 2GB/16GB variant and Rs 6,999 for the 3GB/32GB version. Bharat 5 like its predecessors will truly drive the next phase of smartphone adoption in the country, as a smartphone with 5000 mAh battery is pivotal for a market like India where the tier 3-4 cities still face severe power outage issues.
