Samantha Bee Spoofs Project Veritas Sting Operation Aimed at Washington Post

WaPo accuses conservative activists of pushing fake Moore allegations

"The woman, Jaime T. Phillips, appears to work with Project Veritas, an organization that attempts to secretly record deceptive conversations with journalists in an effort to discredit mainstream news outlets".

A conservative group seemingly caught trying to pass false sexual misconduct allegations against Senate candidate Roy Moore to The Washington Post has received sizable contributions from donors in OR, according to public records.

And here's what The Post found, as the National Review noted: "The Post did not publish an article based on [this woman's] unsubstantiated account". It's fun watching her confront her interlocutor with evidence of a GoFundMe titled "Help Me Move to NY to Infiltrate Liberal Cunt's Stupid Vagina Show", although it's a little less fun than watching McCrummen pull essentially the same move in real life.

"We always honor "off-the-record" agreements when they're entered into in good faith", Executive Editor Martin Baron was quoted as saying.

Project Veritas president James O'Keefe-whose organization was humiliated Monday when it botched a "sting" operation against the Washington Post-will speak as a purveyor of "real news" at Southern Methodist University on Wednesday, the Dallas Morning News reports.

The newspaper's editors made the extraordinary decision to publish and expose Phillip's off-the-record communications once they were confident she was part of an intentional scam targeting their reporters. She also sought assurances that publishing her story would ensure Mr Moore lost the election, according to the Post. Records of the foundation's charitable donations were first provided to the Washington Post in April 2016, when reporter David Fahrenthold was working on finding out whether or not the presidential candidate had kept his word on his charitable giving promises. "The intent by Project Veritas clearly was to publicise the conversation if we fell for the trap. Because of our customary journalistic rigor, we weren't fooled, and we can't honor an "off-the-record" agreement that was solicited in maliciously bad faith". And here's the capper: After the Post confronted Mr. O'Keefe about this deception, he posted a video purporting to show how he was victimized and bullied by the reporter.

Another of Project Veritas' members, former television producer Robert Halderman, was jailed in 2010 fir attempting to blackmail TV presenter David Letterman.

Giving Phillips the benefit that Project Veritas does not, McCrummen informed the woman that they were being filmed before producing a print-out of the fundraising page and asking Phillips to explain herself. That person doesn't exist, and the Daily Caller told The Post that Phillips didn't interview there. Shortly after the woman was seen walking into their offices, founder James O'Keefe declined to answer questions about her connection to the organization.

Four more women have since come forward alleging sexual misconduct by Moore, who has continued to deny the allegations and push forward with his campaign. 'I think I'm just going to go'.
