3 tips to find your ideal Christmas tree

3 tips to find your perfect Christmas tree

The first Christmas trees came to Britain sometime in the 1830's.

Well nothing signals the start of the Christmas season quite like bringing home a fresh cut tree and Monday morning we started off our week by stopping by a Christmas tree stand in Shreveport to talk about this years supply. Teal has owned the Bark River farm, which opened to the public on Black Friday, for about 36 years. That tree crop was also impacted by drought in some areas.

For the first time in Papa Noel's 37 years of business, there aren't enough trees, owner Jimmy Coan said.

Mark Morales with Rio Produce said, "A few years back a lot of famers didn't make much money".

Coleman explained picking the best cut-tree is all about how it looks and feels, which can be tested with two simple ways. Beyond this, however, he said the only thing he can do is to hope for less rainfall next year. Thankfully my husband is more level headed and reminded me that we had 8-foot ceilings and I had a large angel that traditionally topped the tree.

The National Christmas Tree Association said the sticker shock stems from the great recession, which led farmers to plant less trees creating a shortage.

"So we're talking about couches, Christmas trees, curtains, bedding and bedding materials", Schaerfl said.

Kazery says 200 hundred trees are for sale on his farm. "They can just really enjoy themselves, so we try to have that to where they can come out and just have fun, be with their kids, and just spend the day together", said Worthey.

"If the branches are dry and brittle, they are going to break", Chad said.

'Tis the season to be jolly and the Coleman's Christmas Tree Farm near Middletown is helping to get Delawareans into the holiday spirit.

Whenever they pick up their Christmas trees, Teal encouraged people to keep the trees away from heat sources.

· Wear comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes, and gloves that you aren't afraid to get dirty.

In addition to that, Brougham's main Colorado supplier went out of business, so you'll find trees from New Mexico and MI at Luckylure.
