Kevin Durant 'Learned How to Tune Out' OKC Crowd

OKLAHOMA CITY OK- OCTOBER 8 Russell Westbrook #0 of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Carmelo Anthony #7 of the Oklahoma City Thunder against Melbourne United during the first half of a NBA preseason game at the Chesapeake Energy Arena

Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN App.

The Warriors are five point favorites tonight in OKC.

Russell Westbrook plays like he's avenging his entire family just about every game, but he somehow manages to ratchet up the intensity for games against Durant, and he's done it so far tonight. The Thunder enter this contest with a 4-6 record in their last 10 games and a 5-2 mark at home. Green did have eight assists, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks at Brooklyn, and even when he doesn't score plenty of points, his presence on the floor is crucial for the Warriors. Maybe it's a wake up call to see what is or is not working. Oklahoma City is still trying to sort out the rest of its bench beyond what it should get from Patterson, as well as what it is getting from backup point guard Raymond Felton.

The crowed chanted "cupcake" all evening, and Durant even engaged in a verbal exchange with Russell Westbrook. When it was good, it was really good. Let's remember the play, those kinds of things. Westbrook is a domineering personality, and George content to go with the flow.

This is not the first time Westbrook and Durant have had a heated exchange on the court. Anthony will have more problems in a clash with Green, so Westbrook's performance could be vital on this one.

They were teammates in Oklahoma City, but the two have not spoken since the summer of 2016 when Durant left for the Warriors. Although both have fared well without each other so far (Durant, NBA champion, Westbrook, NBA MVP) in the Thunder's 108-91 victory over the Warriors Wednesday night, it appeared time hadn't healed all wounds for both parties. "He's just playing basketball". I learned how to tune out the bulls- and just play. Only friend I have is the basketball, that's it.

Sam Amick (USA Today) on the Thunder's slow start: "Not only are the Thunder struggling to mesh early on, but this team full of would-be closers can't seem to figure out how to close".

Coming into this game, the Thunder found itself in a rut.

"Man, that's just ball", Durant said of the interaction. Paul Millsap could miss up to three months after wrist surgery....
