Oscar De La Hoya, at 44, Calls Out Conor McGregor

Conor Mc Gregor GSP

There was one notable absentee in Conor McGregor's apology for his actions at Bellator Dublin.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Goddard discussed the circumstances surrounding McGregor entering the cage to celebrate with Ward before the bout was technically over.

Apparently, McGregor's behavior also got him removed from December 30's UFC 219 fight card, according to Association of Boxing Commissions President and Combative Sports Director of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation Mike Mazzulli (h/t Ariel Helwani's MMA Hour).

The colourful and hashtag-laden tweet makes Ferguson's opinion perfectly clear.

It's been nearly nine years since De La Hoya last fought but, having seen the money that was made when Mayweather dusted off his gloves to school "The Notorious" in his boxing debut, De La Hoya is eager to earn a similar payday.

With ramifications, if any, for McGregor's recent infractions yet to be determined, there is a degree of uncertainty over just when he will return to the octagon. I ll come back for that fight.

McGregor's apology comes one day after he posted, then deleted, a much different statement.

"While trying to support a loyal teammate and friend, I let my emotions get the best of me and acted out of line", said McGregor, who has not fought in the UFC since stopping Eddie Alvarez to capture the 155lb crown in November past year. He's the king. Hey, let's get it straight: in the cage, he would freakin' destroy me.

The bad blood between McGregor and Goddard began back when the UFC lightweight champion was admonished by the referee for interfering cageside for his good friend and teammate Artem Lobov's latest UFC loss to Artem Fili at October 28's UFC Gdansk. The referee Marc Godard was making a horrendous decision in trying to pick an unconscious fighter up off the floor and force the fight to continue into the second round.

"You know I'm competitive", he said.

"I would suspend him indefinitely and i would require him to come to a hearing and defend himself". I love yous all!

"I've been working out for the last five months". They basically said to me that it was completely unacceptable in their eyes and that they will be doing something. He's not gonna be making any more money this year and I commend UFC for that.
