Ardern admits she may be seen as "an irritant" over Manus Island

Sexual harassment is on the rise for both women and men a wide-ranging ABS survey has found

Ms Adern on the weekend blasted Australia's handling of the issue as unacceptable as she continues to to push New Zealand's offer to accept 150 refugees and asylum seekers from Australia's offshore detention centres.

Kurdish journalist and Iranian refugee Behrouz Boochani said police and immigration authorities had destroyed shelters built to provide shade and cover from the tropical sun and rain in a post on Twitter.

Those asylum seekers who have been processed as genuine refugees are accommodated at East Lorengau Transit Centre while those who are not genuine are at West Lorengau.

On the 31st of October, the Manus detention centre was closed, leaving the people there with no food, water, power or medical care for the past two weeks.

"For the mean time, the PNG and Australia government should supply food, water, electricity and medicines to the refugees and asylum seekers".

PPC Manus, Chief Inspection David Yapu said this afternoon, that 90 more left the Centre today.

"What Australia is doing is inhumane, and that is why we are here locking down the Australian high commission".

The men were also threatened with "arrest and prosecution" if they remained at the site after fencing was demolished.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says refugees on Manus Island will be her sole focus when she meets with Malcolm Turnbull again this week.

A legal challenge to have the PNG government restore essential services to the original detention centre, on the grounds their removal breached the constitutional rights of those inside, was rejected last week. Everyone has the right to seek asylum and the Australian government is not above the law.

"The safety of both the refugees and government workers plus staff of leading agencies is not to be taken for granted given the tension that is now being expressed by the locals on Manus Island", he said.

"We see that we have a role to play here, we're very eager to play that role and as I say I'll be having another conversation with the Prime Minister in the Philippines". "No matter what label you put on it there is absolute need and there is harm being done. I think it's clear that we don't think what's happening there as acceptable, that's why the offer's there", she said.
