OnePlus 5T will retain the 3.5mm audio jack: Pete Lau

OnePlus 5T 3.5mm Jack Hint

The common feature? A headphone jack. Another change buyers might see with the OnePlus 5T is a bigger battery, however the details about the same are not yet known. The post was captioned with "This is the OnePlus 5T no doubt about that" with an image showing the 3.5mm audio jack of the OnePlus 5T and the right and left halves of the lower panel was switched. Further elaborating the decision, Lau pointed out that about 80 percent of users use "in-jack headphones".

The image which was reconstructed by Android Headlines, the one which is attached to the text here indicates that the phone will not be having the USB Type-C port at the bottom surface. That, plus the fact that OnePlus' post featured a little musical note emoji tacked on the end suggests to us it's all about the audio jack. Instead, it suggested the OnePlus 5T is imminent.

Carl Pei (CEO of OnePlus) has been teasing images on Twitter of the capabilities of the new 5T and they indeed look promising, providing a lot of minor but much needed improvements over the OnePlus 5. Last week, the company's CEO Pete Lau praised Samsung's display technology as now the world's best Optic AMOLED solution, suggesting that his company may depend on Samsung once again for the display of the next-generation OnePlus 5T. OnePlus also discovered through its survey that nearly 80 percent of its users prefer in-jack headphones.

The news comes after earlier this week Express.co.uk reported that a leaked presentation slide revealed the OnePlus 5T will be unveiled on November 16.

The main difference between the 5 and 5T will definitely be on the front.

The OnePlus 5T will be unveiled in the month of November and is expected to be priced the same as the OnePlus 5. "Sometimes, industry trends go against our core beliefs", he writes. He added to it: "Disagreeing on what it means to be courageous". True, they could bump up the camera and the screen resolution, but in raw speed, a OnePlus 5T is unlikely to be any faster.

In terms of the chipset, it should come with Snapdragon 835 and 6GB of RAM with 64GB of built-in storage; and 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. However, the sudden avalanche of leaks makes us think this is more likely to be a OnePlus 5T - in which case all bets are off.
