Overworked Russian teen model dies of exhaustion in China

Modelling scandal young girl dies in China after 13 hour fashion show with no medical insurance

"It ran the story under a headline reading "Fears over exploitation of Russian models sent on 'slave labor contracts" without parents to care for them".

"No one expected it to lead to such consequences", said Elvira Zaitseva, who set up the model's trip through her Perm modeling agency.

Yi, chief executive of ESEE Model Management, told The Global Times on Sunday: 'Dzyuba had received 16 different jobs during her stay in China. These models are made to work lomg hours and are not provided good working conditions.

According to Zheng, Vlada went to Yiwu in Zhejiang province, about 300km south of Shanghai, on Monday October 23 to prepare for a photo shoot. She must have been sick, she started to have a fever. She was quickly rushed to the hospital, where she sadly never regained consciousness. She said she often got phone calls from Vlada and recalled how she'd always complain about a lack of sleep. Staff at the agency accompanied her to Ruijin hospital at about 6pm on Wednesday.

Dzyuba's body is being kept at the hospital awaiting the arrival of her mother later this week. "We regret that we have lost an angel", she wrote.

Unfortunately, her condition continued to worsen.

She had been prominent at this month's prestigious Shanghai Fashion Week. He said China had tentatively agreed to pay to return her remains to Russian Federation.

He said his company had not bought medial insurance for her because it was standard procedure for the Russian model agency that recruited her to do that. She took part in just two events at the fashion week, working for only a few hours, Zheng said.

ESEE Model, the Chinese agency that hired Vlada, has denied the accusations that she was overworked. The booming economy has generated strong demand for foreign faces to endorse local brands.

Her distraught mother Oksana wept: 'She was calling me, saying "Mama, I am so exhausted. I so much want to sleep".

Tragically the girl died in China in circumstances that are still being fully clarified.

Vlada Dzvuba was on a three-month modeling assignment in Shanghai, China, where by law, she was only allowed to work three hours each week.
