India Beat Malaysia In Hockey To Clinch Asia Cup Title

India defeat Pakistan by 4-0 to reach Asia Cup final

The last 10 minutes of defence was the most crucial hockey India would play in the final and they did just defence, killing time between themselves while the Malaysian came haunting for the goal. India reached the finals after trouncing Pakistan 4-0. Malaysia were looking for the all-important equaliser while India were keen to hold onto the 2-1 scoreline, which they did and was crowned Asia Cup 2017 champions. Sardar Singh, in particular, was phenomenal with his striding forward, he combined with Sumit at times to scare the opponent's backline and get the ball back of the nets for India.

Ramandeep Singh gave India earlier beak by scoring the first goal in the third minute of the game.

The third quarter was a balanced one where Malaysia started to open up spaces in the Indian defence but all their efforts were well kept out.

Shahril Saabah ignited the fight-back with a field goal in the 50th minute, and India protested, but lost their video referral as well.

Before this, Malaysia's best achievement was third place in 2007 in Chennai, India. In the end, the defensive skills displayed by India were enough for them to clinch the title after a gap of 10 years. He added the victory was possible because of the team work they put in.

India have scored some lovely field goals in the tournament, displaying what they are best known for, one-touch attacking hockey.
