US Should Shed 'Biased Views' Against China: Chinese Official

Beijing however did not share any information with New Delhi even after the disengagement in Doklam Plateau and the period stipulated for doing so ended on October 15 last

The official said the USA envisions an Asia-Pacific region anchored by four countries: Australia, India, Japan and the U.S.

The U.S. decision to expand relations with India nearly certainly will upset India's rival, Pakistan, where Tillerson also will stop next week, said a senior State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

China said Thursday the United States should "abandon its biased views" towards the country, as it hit back at cutting remarks made by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

He said the world needed the USA and India to have a strong partnership.

"Between 2013 and 2016 Chinese companies have invested about USD 560 billion overseas, paid over USD 100 billion in various kind of taxes to the host countries and created millions of jobs for the local communities", Tuo Zhen, spokesman of 19th Congress of the CPC said, refuting reports that China has been bringing its own workers and not hiring locally to execute several infrastructure projects that China is funding under the more than USD 50 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Tillerson has said China can do more to coerce North Korea into giving up its nuclear-weapons program.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday said before a visit to India next week that the administration of US President Donald Trump wants to "dramatically deepen" cooperation with New Delhi, seeing it as a key partner in the face of negative Chinese influence in Asia. He said China was offering financing that saddles countries with enormous debt and triggers for repayment that lead to default.

"The United States seeks constructive relations with China, but we will not shrink from China's challenges to the rules-based order, and where China subverts the sovereignty of neighboring countries and disadvantages the USA and our friends", Tillerson told the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

"In Islamabad, the Secretary will meet with senior Pakistani leaders to discuss our continued strong bilateral cooperation, Pakistan's critical role in the success of our South Asia strategy, and the expanding economic ties between our two countries", a statement by the Department said. He said bilateral trade will climb beyond the record $115 billion reached previous year, noting that a US shipment of crude oil arrived in India this month for the first time. He called for closer defense ties, referring to a range of hardware the U.S.is prepared to sell India. He didn't provide details.

While Tillerson criticised Pakistan for not taking an action against the terrorist groups based in the country, he criticised China for violating global law and norms in South China Sea. "India is a partner for peace in Afghanistan, and we welcome its assistance efforts", he said. "The scourge of terrorism and the disorder sown by cyberattacks threaten peace everywhere".
