MRI on Draymond Green's knee come back negative

Los Angeles California U.S- Head coach Mike D'Antoni of the Los Angeles Lakers during their NBA game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday

Cris Haynes from ESPN.com said that Green is scheduled to have an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity of his injury.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green (23) and Houston Rockets forward PJ Tucker (4) fall to the ground during the third quarter of an National Basketball Association game between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets at Oracle Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, in Oakland, Calif.

D'Antoni had said that neither team could stop the other during preseason play.

ESPN was the first to report news of Green's MRI results.

The two-time All-Star and reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year was injured during the third quarter of the Warriors' regular-season opener against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. He came up hobbling and grabbing at his knee, putting quite a scare into Golden State's faithful.

Without Green for the fourth quarter, the Warriors fumbled away a 13-point lead and fell 122-121.

Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are Golden State's best players, but Green's defense is so important, especially in small-ball lineups with him at center.

Chris Paul got off to a bad start as he only scored four points during the game but with eight rebounds and 11 assists.

"He was the guy who was bringing the energy and the life", coach Steve Kerr said.

Losing their season opener won't really be a big deal for the defending champion Golden State Warriors moving forward.

Green's MRI came back negative, but he is listed as doubtful, so chances are good that Bell starts after playing only 12 minutes in his National Basketball Association debut on Tuesday.

Golden State is now in flight to New Orleans, where it'll practice at Tulane around 3 p.m.
