Barcelona prepared to make new offer for Liverpool's Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho in action for Liverpool

It's likely the Anfield club will be upset with Grau's comments having written to Barcelona urging them to stop trying to unsettle Coutinho.

"The Coutinho-Barcelona link will not go away", he explained.

Coutinho has started the last three league games for Liverpool after missing the start of the season with a back injury.

Liverpool are understood to have promised Philippe Coutinho that they will "facilitate" his departure to Barcelona during the upcoming January transfer window if the La Liga giants return with a reasonable offer.

El Mundo Deportivo now report Barca are "still in regular contact" with the 25-year-old, who has scored three goals for Jurgen Klopp's men this season.

"We want to have the most competitive squad possible". There's no benefit to Liverpool agreeing to such a scenario, it would be naive, simply pushing the problem to January... unless it was an outright lie and they'll deal with the consequences after Christmas.

It's hardly surprising that Barcelona's interest in Coutinho hasn't wavered.

"I would be gobsmacked if they consider doing business in January, absolutely gobsmacked".

Anfield officials rejected all offers for the Brazil global, who submitted a transfer request in attempts to force a proposed transfer to the Nou Camp.

"The words of Oscar Grau were "if we had to pay for him, we've got the money for him". Mundo claims, Klopp and Liverpool positively accept Coutinho's terms and promise to weigh Barcelona's offer.
