Rock thrown at Australian team bus after 2nd T20I in Guwahati

The Australia cricket team suffered a scare following their Twenty20 worldwide win over India in Guwahati on Tuesday after a rock was thrown at their team bus, shattering one of the windows, governing body Cricket Australia (CA) said.

Authorities believed local children were behind the Bangladesh rock-throwing. They are being quizzed.

Several former and current Indian players have expressed their disappointment about the incident, including Ashwin Ravichandran and Rohit Sharma. Rocks were thrown at their bus which shattered the window and spread fear among the players.

It was accompanied by the words: 'Pretty scary having a rock thrown through the team bus window on the way back to the hotel!' The post was also retweeted by stand-in captain David Warner.

Indian fans who are known for being among the most passionate followers of the game were humiliated last night when the news appeared that the Australian team bus was attacked with stones after the conclusion of the 2nd T20I at Guwahati.

According to the details provided, stones were pelted on the Australian cricket team's bus while the team was returning from Barsapara Stadium to the team's hotel in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the incident had damaged the state's reputation as a reliable host for major sporting events, and that state police had identified two suspects.

State finance, education and health etc., minister Dr Himanta Bishwa Sarma while apologizing for the incident in a twitter message said that such behaviour was unpardonable, the guilty would be punished.
