Nice & Warm Locally, but Nate is Approaching the Gulf Coast

Weekend looking nice, and then we'll get some much-needed rain

Afternoon Scattered Showers or Storms.

A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly in the morning, is the forecast for Topeka and northeast Kansas on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka. Rain will hold off until after midnight, with an increasing chance (30 percent) of showers after 2 a.m. Winds will be gusty from the southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour.

Tuesday: 50 percent chance of showers/thunderstorms. The rain could linger into Monday night and part of Tuesday before it clears out again. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.

There may be a brief shower or two with a frontal passage Friday. Temperatures will soar into the low to middle 80s heading through the afternoon hours.

Very warm weekend ahead across North Texas with plenty of sunshine. During the day Sunday, look for winds perhaps as high as 25-35mph with gusts up to 50mph closer to the center of circulation. Forecast lows are in the lower to mid 70s with highs in the upper 80s, and rain coverage at around 40%. Dew point readings will be in the 60s to possibly near 70 degrees. The day's record high in Burlington is 77°, our forecast high is 80°.

Watch Meteorologist Ashley Baylor tonight for the latest on your local forecast and NATE as it gets closer to making a landfall across the Northern Gulf Coast.

MORE SHOWERS: We'll have a cloudy and drizzly Thursday because of the big area of high pressure.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy skies and cool temperatures will be around with a low of 57 degrees.

For the second half of the work week a high will slide over the southeast from Texas causing summer-like conditions to stick around a little longer and keep the cooler air locked to the north. The air will remain unseasonably mild with highs in the 70s. For now, we are forecasting periods of rain with highs only in the 60s.
