Netflix is raising its subscription prices for both new and longtime subscribers. Subscribers will be given a heads up, which is nice. The price increases take effect over the next several months, Netflix says, with all subscribers will be notified at least 30 days in advance, based on their billing cycle.
Netflix issued a brief statement, saying that pricing was adjusted to help add "more exclusive TV shows and movies" as well as introduce more product features. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about it.
Netflix last hiked prices in 2014, which similarly was attributed to increased TV show and movie offerings. The company's 4K-enabled, four simultaneous streams subscription-its "premium" plan-will increase to $13.99 per month from $11.99.
"Most investors believe that Netflix is priced well below its value to consumers and want to see the management continue to increase monetization", Rob Sanderson analyst at MKM Partners said. You can't do that in Basic. Not bad. Beyond that, the plans are the same.
The cost for the premium plan raised $2. You guessed it; the same as the other two. The aim is to cover sky-high content costs as the search heats up for the next Orange is the New Black or House of Cards for Netflix to go up against Amazon's Transparent and Hulu's Emmy-winning The Handmaid's Tale.
The 2S price plan will now be increased from £6.99 to £7.99 per month, while the 4S plan will be increased from £8.99 to £9.99 per month.
The lowest tier subscription is staying at $7.99 a month. He said that "2017 was really the first time we've seen the percentage of households subscribing to two or more services outnumbering the households subscribing to a single service". So if anything, they do get points for keeping their word.
There's always the fear that Netflix will go too far.
That when Arrested Developmentcomes back, it better be an improvement on the fourth season, which was bad.
Looking forward to the second season of Stranger Things?
