After deliberating for several months, Russell Westbrook has reportedly agreed to a five-year, $205 million "supermax" extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Wojnarowski noted Friday that Westbrook now owns the "biggest total contract" in league history since there are six years and $233 million left on his deal.

The contract is now the richest deal in National Basketball Association history with his six seasons and $233 million through 2022-23. Westbrook established a new National Basketball Association record with 42 triple-doubles while averaging a league-best 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds (10th in the NBA), 10.4 assists (third in the NBA) and 1.63 steals in 34.6 minutes per game.

Incidentally, Friday is Durant's 29th birthday. It is the richest deal in National Basketball Association history. Amid the Thunder's despair in losing Durant, Westbrook's shorter-term commitment gave Presti and assistant GM Troy Weaver the ability to pursue the trades with in and NY to acquire George and Anthony, respectively. The NBA All-Star guard said in the statement that he feels "so honored" to stay a part of the Thunder organization. By making the All-NBA First Team, Westbrook could receive a super-max deal from the Thunder, which was created by the most recent collective bargaining agreement.

It was said that the deal was made official on Friday between Oklahoma City's general manager Sam Presti and Westbrook's agent, Thad Foucher of the Wasserman Media Group. In addition, it's apparent the Oklahoma City Thunder's front office wants to make a major commitment to Westbrook as their main star heading forward. From day one the support that Mr. Bennett, Sam, Troy and the entire organization have given me and my family has been incredible, and we are so grateful. Because of Westbrook's contract extension, there's at least a better chance that George and Anthony will choose do to do the same.

The Thunder had an impressive offseason, re-signing Westbrook while also trading role players and young pieces to add All-Star forwards Paul George and Carmelo Anthony.
