Antonio Conte not surprised by Man Utd and Man City results

Aguero thanks fans for support after suffering broken rib

Argentine striker Sergio Aguero is reportedly set to miss 6-8 weeks after suffering a fractured rib late on Thursday night.

Initial assessments suggest the player will be out of action for two months and will remain in the Dutch capital for further observation, ESPN says.

"Sergio Aguero will be assessed by club doctors today [Friday] after being involved in a road accident on Thursday", the club said in a statement.

Conte also said that playmaker Eden Hazard was ready for his first league start of the season after an impressive midweek display against Atletico, while midfielder Danny Drinkwater would miss the City game through injury.

This obviously rules him out of tomorrow's crucial English Premier League clash with Chelsea, besides a couple of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for Argentina.

News of Aguero's injury will come as a major blow to Manchester City's title hopes.

Chelsea won the Premier League with two games to spare last season as Manchester City could only muster a third-place finish.

Asked whether he had a problem with Aguero attending a concert ahead of the top-of-the-table game at Chelsea, he replied bluntly: "No. Day off". I want my players to have fun.

Via James Ducker of The Telegraph, Aguero said, "The taxi driver did not see the curve and skid".

"It was an accident and he will recover as soon as possible. I'll be discharged in a little while".

Aguero has been in superb form for City this season and is one goal away from equalling the club's all-time leading scoring record of 178, held by Eric Brook. Though the 5-0 win at home to Liverpool was impressive in the way City dismantled Jurgen Klopp's team in the second half, the first half dismissal of Sadio Mane denied Liverpool the chance to truly test City's chin.

"I think days off are to be happy".

And with Mendy missing, City are now without a left-back and manager Pep Guardiola will be forced into a defensive reshuffle for Saturday's trip.
