Five controversial official Oscar entries from India

Rajkummar Rao in Newton

Rajkummar Rao's "Newton" has hit the bull's eye by being named India's official entry at the Oscars. But shockingly, people have also found HD version of the film on the internet and shared its link on their social media handles.

A black comedy, the film is the second from director Amit V Masurkar, after Sulemani Keeda. The movie is India's official entry for the 90th Academy Awards which will take place on March 4, 2018, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. My sister, Archana who is also a director in LA and I would often joke about this; if we will we ever get a chance to be a part of it.

After earning accolades for his unbelievable role in the movie "Bareilly Ki Barfi", Rajkummar Rao is back with another promising movie, "Newton". Apart from Rajkummar Rao, the movie features Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjai Mishra and Anjali Patil. "It's a great honour for us to represent India at the Oscars".

The film casts Rao as a rookie government clerk who is sent to a remote naxalite-infested zone to oversee an election process, and goes on to make a few caustic comments about democracy and the polling process in India.

Only three Indian films - "Mother India" (1957), "Salaam Bombay!' (1988) and 'Lagaan" (2001) - have been nominated for Best Foreign Language film.

Be it the senior policeman Atma Singh, local booth level officer Malko Netam, the severely ailing official Loknath or a bunch of policemen on duty to guard them, Masurkar vividly brings the milieu with stark reality. 'Saw the film Newton. its stark reality was a treat to watch!

Movie's producer Manish Mundra expressed his happiness that they are "super thrilled and excited about the nomination of the film in Oscars".
