Donald Trump shares video of himself hitting Hillary Clinton with golf ball

The GIF shows Donald Trump hitting a golf ball into the back of Hillary Clinton

Though Trump had been uncharacteristically silent on Twitter as of late, a spate of weird tweets Sunday morning suggested a return to form for the president's controversial social media tendencies.

President Donald Trump retweeted an video Sunday morning that demonstrated him swinging a golf club and seeming to hit his previous presidential campaign equal Hillary Clinton with a golf ball.

The video shows Mr Trump hitting a golf ball that, in the next frame, seemingly strikes Mrs Clinton in the back before she stumbles and falls down while boarding a plane.

Way to regress to your exhausted old ways!

Asked during an appearance on ABC's This Week whether the tweet made him doubt the sincerity of Mr Trjmp's outreach to Democrats, Rep. Adam Schiff said it was "distressing" to have a president who "will tweet and re-tweet things as juvenile as that".

Sigh...2020 can't get here soon enough!

Clinton, who has been giving a series of interviews promoting the book, responded to Trump's earlier criticism on Twitter with a suggestion that he read her earlier book, It Takes a Village, a picture book for children.

Trump slammed Clinton over her new book earlier this week too, tweeting that she "blames everybody (and every thing) but herself for her election loss". In July, he posted a video to his account that showed him punching a physical representation of CNN in the face. "She lost the debates and lost her direction!"

Trump has repeatedly posted critical tweets about his former 2016 presidential campaign rival. They expressed their feelings loud and clear.

"It doesn't help, I think, in terms of his stature. She spent big money but, in the end, had no game!" Clinton's new memoir What Happened enumerates ways in which Trump's campaign allegedly allowed Russian Federation to meddle in the 2016 election, and has topped Amazon's bestseller list. "It doesn't help in terms of the stature of our whole country", said Mr Schiff, a Democrat from California.
