Pak violates ceasefire again, BSF jawan killed in Arnia

Bahadur was on obligation at forwarding point along the fence in Arnia area along the IB when Pakistani Rangers depended on mortar shelling and little arms shoot at around 0020 hours today, announced Press Trust of India.

The deceased BSF jawan has been identified as constable Brijender Bahadur Singh.

"Pakistan is violating ceasefire out of frustration and we are giving appropriate reply to them", the IG told reporters on the sidelines of wreath laying ceremony of BSF jawan who attained marytrdom in cross border firing.

A BSF official said Pakistani troops breached border ceasefire in Arnia sector of Jammu region in the midnight.

The bullet hit him on the left side of abdomen and as a result died during evacuation, Pareekh said. The BSF troops retaliated by using same calibre weapon.

The 32-year-old soldier is survived by his parents and wife Sushmita Singh, initial details revealed. A civilian was also injured in the gunfight, according to ANI.

Islamabad accused the Indian troops of "deliberately targeting" civilians and termed it "deplorable and contrary to human dignity and worldwide human rights and humanitarian laws".

However, India has strongly denied Pakistani allegations and said that the incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops have increased sharply this year. Until August 1, there were 285 such activities by the Pakistan armed force, while there were 228 in all of 2016, as indicated by the Indian Army, said PTI.
