Out-Of-Favour Bayern Star Admits To Snubbing Man Utd In 2015

That has led to questions over whether club bosses are totally happy with Ancelotti, and 30-year-old Nagelsmann has emerged as the man they are keeping an eye on to replace him if he did leave.

Bayern had a quiet summer in comparison to some of the money thrown around by the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, but chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was not happy with Lewandowski's comments.

The 29-year-old said: "Bayern will have to come up with something and be creative if the club wants to keep bringing world-class players to Munich. In worldwide football that has long since been more of an average [price] than a top price", he said.

In an interview with Bild, Rumenigge discussed, among other things, Lewandowski's views about the club and its recruitment policy for players.

Muller scored just five Bundesliga goals last season and has regularly started on the substitutes bench, with manager Carlo Ancelotti preferring to start Spanish attacking midfielder Thiago Alcantara behind Robert Lewandowski.

Robert Lewandowski on Bayern's transfers and the commercialization of football

"When Bayern told me they needed me and how I am an important player, I did not have to think that much anymore". "I don't believe, however, that a player has all this power".

It all began when Lewandowski told another German publication, Der Spiegel, that he wanted Munich to compete for the best players in the current transfer market. Rather than Lewandowski, I share the viewpoint of the Chancellor [Angela Merkel], who says we should regulate and reduce the amounts.

Lewandowski has been at Bayern since 2014 and has won three league titles, but not being able to win the Champions League has left him frustrated. I regret his statements.

'Whoever publicly criticises the club or his team-mates will get in trouble with me personally.
