Hillary Clinton, in TV Interview, Says Election Loss Still 'Very Painful'

Names and faces

Clinton said that stereotypes, sexism, and misogyny played a role in why people could not wrap their brains around electing a female president into office.

"I$3 n each state, there were more than enough Stein voters to swing the result, just like Ralph Nader did in Florida and New Hampshire in 2000", Clinton says. "It hurts a lot".

"Trump was behaving in a deplorable manner", she said, citing the Access Hollywood tape.

Perhaps the most famous line from the traditional wedding vow is "for better, for worse"-an indication that, no matter the storms to come, two partners will weather them as one". "There were a large number of people who didn't care". Clinton said she had been "gobsmacked" by her loss, and talked about what she did afterward: "I went into a frenzy of closet-cleaning, long walks in the woods, playing with my dog, yoga, had my share of Chardonnay".

The interview coincides with the release of Clinton's new memoir about her loss to Trump, called "What Happened."

Talking about Trump's victory, Clinton pointed out, "He was quite successful in referencing a nostalgia that would bring hope, comfort, and settle grievances for millions of people who were upset about gains made by others". "Honestly, I wish she'd just shut the fuck up and go away".

So effective that his win still seems to shock Clinton, 10 months after election night.

"I'm a former First Lady, and former presidents and First Ladies show up". "It was a very hard transition".

"I think I am good, but that doesn't mean that I am complacent or resolved about what happened".

"But I'm a former first lady, and former presidents and first ladies show up", she said. Mrs. Clinton insisted that the line was taken out of context, but said Mr. Obama had fed the narrative of Democratic hostility toward coal miners by announcing a plan that set state-by-state targets for carbon emissions reductions, and a framework for meeting them, at the White House, next to the head of the Environmental Protection Agency. "Was I going to go to the inauguration?"

She feels that her biggest mistake was to use a personal server for his email while she was Secretary of State.

'I had not drafted a concession speech, ' she admitted. "'And, you know, Bill just kept saying, "Oh, you know, that was a terrific speech", tryin" to just kinda bolster me a little bit'.

"I think this time we're in, particularly in this campaign, you know, maybe I missed a few chances", Clinton told Pauley.
