Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation Makes $1 Million Donation To Hurricane Harvey Victims

Hurricane Harvey: Disney & KTRK-TV Houston Commit $1M For Relief Efforts; Set 'Day Of Giving'

The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has provided disaster relief aid in the past, stepping in to provide donations to the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2010 Haiti quake, and Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Recently, another high-profile actress Sandra Bullock was reported to donate $1 million dollars to the relief efforts of the American Red Cross.

Leonardo DiCaprio donated $1 million via his charitable foundation to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, and the organization he chose couldn't be more appreciative.

Houston is the hometown of global pop singer Beyonce.

"I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so courageous and determined to do so much to help", said the former Destiny's Child singer, from Houston. The Kardashian-Jenner sisters and momKris Jennerteamed up to donate a combined $500,000.

The USD 1 million from DiCaprio's foundation represents the inaugural donation to the fund.

"I'm just grateful I can do it", Bullock modestly told People. "There are human beings in eight feet of water", she said.

'At this point this is a serious matter.

"I think the people are in bad shape and they need help". I'm going to lead the charge and step up this way, ' he added.

Actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, $25,000 to the American Red Cross.

DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj joined in with $US25,000 donations.

On Wednesday, authorities in Texas confirmed the death toll from Hurricane Harvey was 31, but this number is expected to rise.

He joins a growing entourage of stars to donate to the victims of one of the worst storms to make landfall in the USA since Katrina, including Beyonce, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Ruby Rose, Rachael Ray, Ellen Degeneres, Fall Out Boy, Sandra Bullock, Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Kim Kardashian, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled, T.I., Jack Antonoff, Chris Young, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez and Selena Gomez.

Hurricane Harvey is estimated to have caused over $US3 billion ($A3.8 billion) in property damage so far.
