We won't pay for border wall "under any circumstances" - Mexico tells Trump

In response to Trump tweet Mexico reiterates it won't pay for the wall

And while Mexico again repeated that it would in no way, shape or form pay of the wall...

"It may be through reimbursement", he said. "Mexico will pay for it through reimbursement/other".

The border wall, which was always one of Trump's signature issues, has recently returned to the forefront of the president's mind as his approval rating has tumbled.

The statement credited to the Mexico's foreign ministry reads, "As the Mexican government has always stated, our country will not pay, under any circumstances, for a wall or physical barrier built on U.S. territory along the Mexican border".

President Trump also called out Mexico for the country's cartel violence and claimed that the government will eventually pay for the promised border wall.

At the same time, according to the report, he said, "If you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I can not live with that".

Trump has asked for $1.6 billion to begin border wall construction, but not all congressional Republicans agree about the merits of a fight to spend potentially billions of dollars more on a border barrier as they seek for tax cuts.

"The Mexican Government reiterates that [drug trafficking] is a shared problem that will only end if its root causes are addressed: high demand for drugs in the United States and supply from Mexico (and other countries)".

He said Mexico "is being reluctant" to pay because the nation has "had one of the sweetest deals for years". "Both being very hard, may have to terminate?" "This determination is not part of a Mexican negotiating strategy, but a principle of national sovereignty and dignity", it said.

"Mexico will not negotiate NAFTA nor any other aspect of the bilateral relationship, through social media or any news platform".

The Foreign Ministry's statement left out the fact that the US has relied heavily on Mexican aid in the recent past.
